Need a general purpose controller? M-Audio Oxygen. Need a controller that has absolute control over your plugins? Alesis VK49. Need a controller that can modify lots of plugin parameters? Get an Akai MPK series, or an Alesis V49/VI49. Controllers in general: If you plan on purchasing a controller, select it based on your needs. In addition, they require ZERO break-in, which is wonderful.ĥ. Their controllers work with every DAW and they're designed for general use - as well as the limited space that most bedroom producers have. Alesis: I'm personally a big fan of Alesis. They're very high quality and require some, but not a lot of, breaking in.Ĥ. M-Audio: M-Audio's Oxygen series of keyboards are very widely used (especially within the hip-hop community for some reason, more so than outside it) and for good reason. If you opt to pick up an Akai keyboard, you'll have to "break it in" before you can really use it.ģ. Wooo -This is ½ light-year out of my knowledge, so i am out with hanging jaw, but Its amazing to see how one open-source project, like LMMS -leads to new projects and new ideas ! I'm trying to gather a small community of good-willed users to join me in my quest for the perfect UI-design. I'm really willing to make a small and very simple MIDI controller (a few multiplexers, a pair of function buttons, 16 buttons+LEDs to manage step sequencer/keyboard, 16 RGB encoders and a fat MIDI layer held by Open Stage Control. but, I was thinking there could be a way to make it "better". Pretty pleased with this setup since it allows me to jam anywhere. I'm running LMMS on a Raspberry Pi enclosed with its 5" tactile screen and USB powerbank inside a very small box and I hook up a Beatstep Pro to control 2 synths and a drum rack, knobs are mapped to my preferred LMMS functions (some filters, LFOs, effects.) I'm Bat (since I did not go to the presentation page yet, but I'll go there soon !)
